FUND PROFILES: SCB Global Capital, Ovation Partners, Lighthouse Canton

 

From soft-commodity market maker to hedge fund manager Russ Matthews

SCB Global Capital has just launched its first fund, SCB Global Opportunities Master Fund, LP.

The fund, a private investment partnership, is open to accredited investors at a US$250,000 minimum investment. It follows a value-based global long/short strategy and will invest primarily in publicly traded equity securities in developed and emerging markets.

The Denver, Colorado-located firm was founded in 2014 by Warren Olsen and Russ Matthews.

Warren Olsen Warren Olsen, SCB Global's Chairman and CIO and the fund's portfolio manager, has over 25 years of investment management experience, and most recently served as the Vice Chairman and CIO of First Western Financial, a bank holding company that he co-founded.

Russ Matthews was most recently Regional Director for Central Park Group LLC, an alternative investment adviser, where he raised capital for single manager hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, and private equity vehicles.

Olsen and Matthews have known each other for several years and have previously worked together.

Russ said in the announcement, "We believe that a fundamental, disciplined, value-based investment methodology implemented on a global basis offers significant opportunity to reward patient, careful investors."
