NEW LAUNCHES: New launches from new fund managers

 

Ex-hedge funders striking out on their own

  • Eric Evans, who worked at SAC's CR Intrinsic and traded health-care stocks, is opening Orchard View Capital Advisors in New York, according to Bloomberg.He is preparing his health-care focused fund as stocks in the industry are at all-time highs. He joins an expanding group of former Cohen employees who've raised their own funds after the firm said it would stop handling outside capital in 2013.
  • Bruce Emery, a former portfolio manager at Citadel Investment Group, is launching Greenvale Capital LLP in London in the second half of this year and recently hired Christopher Dennis from Deutsche Bank AG to head fundraising. The market neutral equity fund will invest globally, with a focus on the U.S. and Europe, says Nasdaq.
  • Displaced by Tiger Consumer Management's shutdown, two of the firm's top investment staffers are planning to launch their own hedge fund operation, reports HFAlert.com.Michael Berkley and Neel Parekh have yet to choose a name for their New York firm, which could open for business as early as June. Their strategy will be similar to that of Tiger Consumer: long and short investments across a mix of consumer-company stocks.
  • Ex-Millennium star trader Chris Dale's Kintbury is due to launch after raising at least $200 million in start-up capital, reports Reuters. Kintbury had been due to launch in the first quarter but would now likely be ready for launch on May 1.This month the firm hired ......................
