NEW LAUNCHES: Latest maiden fund launches

 

Ex-hedge funders striking out on their own:

  • Emmanuel Hermann, the former head of Grupo BTG Pactual SA's proprietary equity desk in Brazil, is reportedly opening a new fund called Leste, specialized in risk arbitrage, credit and distressed assets, says Reuters.
  • Olean Capital Management and Armory Advisors LLC launched Olean Capital Management CTA Systematic FX Trading Program. Founding partner and managing director Thomas Pastore has over 20 years in the financial industry with major firms CIBC Oppenheimer, Olde Discount and RLM Trading. Co-founder and Director of Research David Rakus also brings 20 years past trading experience as a portfolio manager for hedge funds including Tudor Investment Group and Gracie Capital.
  • Pagoda Asset Management is to launch its long/short, TMT and consumer focused hedge fund on October 1. Pagoda was founded by three former senior Highbridge Capital Management employees: Adam Bernstein, Mark Hoffman, and Glenn Vogelman. The firm, based in Manhattan, has already assembled a seven-person team.
  • Newly-founded fund group Sanditon Asset Management plans to launch a UK long/short fund for Tim Russell as early as November, reported Investment Week. The group, founded by Russell and fellow ex-Cazenove manager Chris Rice, is aiming to provide an open-ended UK fund which will mimic the investment process on......................
