Moelis & Company adds to capital markets capabilities

Tuesday, September 30, 2025
Opalesque Industry Update - Moelis & Company, a leading global independent investment bank, today announced the appointment of Matt Singer as a Managing Director in New York. Matt will strengthen the Firm's private capital markets capabilities, with a focus on growth equity and private credit.

Matt brings over a decade of experience partnering and investing with companies through creative solutions across the capital structure. He most recently served as Head of Innovation Capital at BlackRock, where he oversaw a $1.1 billion portfolio providing growth equity financing to mid- and late-stage venture-backed private companies across AI, enterprise software, hardware, defense and industrial technology sectors. Prior to that, he led Goldman Sachs' BDC efforts in originating and structuring over $600 million of growth debt and equity investments to venture-backed, founder-owned and owner-operated companies. Earlier in his career, Matt held roles at H.I.G. Capital, Credit Suisse, and Bridgewater Associates.

Angus Whelchel, Head of Private Capital Markets at Moelis commented, "Given the momentum in both public and private capital markets, companies are increasingly seeking customized financing solutions. Bringing in best-in-class talent such as Matt to help drive innovative outcomes for our clients is a clear differentiator for our franchise. Leveraging his unique perspectives and deep expertise in growth equity private placements and private credit will be invaluable as we continue to expand our capital markets capabilities. We look forward to working with Matt and welcoming him to the Firm."

"Matt's addition reflects our commitment to providing clients with a full spectrum of financing solutions," said Augusto Sasso, Global Head of Capital Markets at Moelis. "His experience bridging growth equity and private credit complements our existing strengths and expands the alternatives we can deliver to our clients globally."
