Ogier's Cayman funds team adds partners

Tuesday, February 25, 2025
Opalesque Industry Update - Ogier investment fund specialists Gemma Cowan, Jessica Crawford and Graeme Loarridge have all been promoted to the Ogier partnership, further cementing the firm's reputation for investment funds in the Cayman Islands.

James Bergstrom, managing partner of the Cayman office, said: "We are delighted to welcome Gemma, Jess and Graeme to the partnership. These promotions are well-deserved recognition of their contribution to the firm's success and underline their own fantastic performance. They also mark Ogier's commitment to attracting, developing and rewarding the very best legal talent.

"This is an exciting time for Ogier's Investment Funds practice, which now includes more than 30 partners globally. These promotions reflect the tremendous growth of our team, which is a direct result of client demand for Ogier's Cayman funds expertise."

Gemma, Jessica and Graeme represent some of the industry's leading sponsors, advising on all aspects of Cayman Islands funds, from establishment, regulation and governance to ongoing operation and downstream investments for both hedge funds and private equity funds.

Gemma has a particular focus on institutional client relationships. Jessica is a leading member of the team's private equity and emerging manager practices, and Graeme has developed a particularly strong following in Latin America as a trusted adviser to Latin American managers.

Described by Legal 500 as "one of the strongest in the Cayman Islands", Ogier's full-service Investment Funds team has been operating as a market leader for more than 25 years. It is renowned for providing its top-tier clients with expert advice, commercial insight and tailored solutions. The three new partners join an established team of 26 partners in Ogier's Cayman team and follow the recent arrival of partner Natalie Bell, as well as the promotion of regulatory expert Martin Byers.

The continued growth of Ogier in the Cayman Islands is reflective of the firm's wider success across its locations. The firm now has more than 1,200 people across its legal, corporate and fiduciary and consulting divisions, including 110 legal partners.

Ogier's global managing partner Edward Mackereth added: "Our funds services are going from strength-to-strength internationally. These well-deserved promotions, in addition to new funds partners in Ireland and Luxembourg, enhance our reputation as a dominant player in the investment funds space and bolster our ability to support clients with practical, tailored solutions and dedicated expertise."
