Opalesque Industry Update - Sidley announced that Jonathan Olsen has joined the firm as a partner in the M&A and Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practices, practicing in San Diego. Prior to joining Sidley, he was a Technology and M&A partner with Goodwin Procter LLP.

Mr. Olsen regularly advises large multinationals, as well as emerging companies in the technology and life sciences industries. In addition to providing strategic counseling to his clients, his practice includes M&A, venture capital financings, joint ventures, and corporate governance.

Mr. Olsen has substantial experience representing buyers and sellers in M&A transactions, as well as significant experience in cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, minority investments, and joint ventures in over 30 international jurisdictions. He also regularly represents corporate venture groups in their minority investments in both U.S. and international emerging growth companies. Mr. Olsen is the latest addition to the Sidley team in California, joining Shane Goudey who recently became a partner in the firm's Investment Funds practice in Palo Alto.

"Jon understands complex regulated industries and the importance of a holistic legal approach for clients, who will benefit from his collaboration with Sidley's partners across practices in M&A and multinational work," said Yvette Ostolaza, Sidley's Management Committee chair and a member of the Executive Committee. "Jon is a great cultural fit with Sidley, and he will be able to leverage our regulatory platform as well as the firm's compliance and enforcement, litigation, and transactional capabilities."

"We are pleased to welcome Jon to the firm and to our Southern California team," said Sharon Flanagan, leader of Sidley's Global Life Sciences practice and a member of Sidley's Executive Committee. "He has deep connections with life sciences and technology companies in San Diego and globally that complement our M&A and Global Life Sciences platforms and will help attract clients across industries and strengthen our existing relationships."
