"David has an excellent reputation as a senior lawyer in the investment funds space with substantial experience leading fundraises across various investment strategies, and we're excited to welcome him back to Kirkland," said Jon A. Ballis, Chairman of Kirkland's Executive Committee.

Mr. Sherman has been a trusted advisor to a range of prominent private equity sponsors across all areas of investment fund formation, upper-tier arrangements and fund operations for almost 15 years. He has been acknowledged for his fund formation experience in leading industry publications including Chambers USA and the Legal 500 U.S.

"David is a talented attorney with terrific experience, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to our investment funds group, the largest and most active funds practice in the world with more than 600 lawyers dedicated to advising funds and their general partner sponsors on sophisticated matters related to all aspects of their formation and operation," said Erica Berthou and Daniel Lavon-Krein, investment funds partners and members of Kirkland's Executive Committee.

Kirkland is a global leader in providing sophisticated advice to investment fund sponsors, institutional investors and other market participants in the alternative investment fund space. The Firm offers clients the unsurpassed resources of an integrated global team across North America, Europe and Asia providing advice on private fund formation, liquidity solutions, investment management and regulatory counsel and strategic advisory services. Since January 2020, Kirkland has advised more than 1,700 funds closed and in process with total capital commitments in excess of $1.94 trillion.

"I am thrilled to come back home to Kirkland & Ellis," Mr. Sherman said. "The Firm has the most comprehensive and differentiated platform for investment funds in the industry, and I look forward to reuniting with my friends and colleagues to drive impressive results for the Firm's clients."

Mr. Sherman was previously a partner at Kirkland, having spent 11 years at the Firm. He returns to Kirkland from Latham & Watkins LLP, where he was a partner.
