Asia Genesis appoints Cheryl Chan as business development, partner

Friday, April 21, 2023
Opalesque Industry Update - Asia Genesis, a leading Singapore-based, global macro hedge fund manager, has appointed Cheryl Chan as its Business Development, Partner.

Cheryl will focus on developing and expanding the firm's outreach and investor base for private wealth and family offices. She will work with Jessica Quek, Head of Investor Relations, Partner who will focus on institutional investors, to drive assets growth for the firm's flagship fund, the Asia Genesis Macro Fund. The Fund's current investor base comprises mostly of institutional clients across Asia and Europe.

Cheryl brings with her more than 20 years of experience in capital raising and investment banking. Prior to joining Asia Genesis, she was leading the effort on listing funds, debt, as well as pre-IPO equity issuers at ADDX, the global private market exchange. A former investment banker and previously based in Hong Kong for almost a decade, she worked in capital markets at UBS, Mizuho and Scotiabank, heading up capital markets teams that covered the Greater China and Southeast Asia regions. Cheryl began her career structuring and marketing interest rate derivatives in New York City with JP Morgan. She graduated with a dual degree in Finance and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.

"Asia-Pacific is one of the fastest growing regions for wealth and Singapore remains one of the key destinations for private wealth and family offices in the region. Cheryl's extensive experience in capital raising will be a valuable addition to the firm." said Chay Chang, CEO of Asia Genesis Asset Management.

Cheryl said: "I am excited to be part of the team and look forward to the great opportunities that await us, as we bring the ideal investment product to our investors."

Singapore has been attracting more families globally who are setting up offices to safeguard and grow their wealth for future generations. The Asia Genesis Macro Fund offers a superior solution with twin goals of capital preservation and positive annual compounding through steady uncorrelated returns with low downside volatility across all-weather conditions.

Asia Genesis Macro Fund returned +5.25% net Year-To-Date (estimated as of 18 Apr 2023), on the back of strong returns last year where the Fund achieved +15.32% net for 2022.
