Iron Road Partners taps ex-SEC member for new role

Opalesque Industry Update - Iron Road Partners, a regulatory consulting firm serving the alternatives investment industry, announces the expansion of its team with two hires including a former senior member of the SEC's Private Funds Unit.

Paul McGowan, J.D. joins Iron Road Partners as a Director after 18 years at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Paul served during the Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden administrations.

During his nearly two?€?decade tenure, Paul held various senior roles within the Division of Examinations, the Private Funds Unit and the Division of Enforcement where he assisted and led numerous high?€?profile examinations and investigations of complex alternative investment managers, large broker?€?dealers and Registered Investment Advisers resulting in significant monetary penalties. Paul holds a Juris Doctorate with a Business and Financial Services concentration from Suffolk Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Connecticut College. Paul is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Paul will be based in Boston, Massachusetts and will focus on advising real estate, private equity and hedge fund managers navigating the current regulatory environment.

Also joining the team is K.C. Tai as a Consultant. Previously, K.C. was a Director of Compliance at Oppenheimer & Co. where he focused on implementing and administering an investment adviser compliance program in a complex, fast?€?paced, multi?€?product environment. K.C. received a Bachelor of Laws from the National Taiwan University, a Master of Laws from Soochow University and an L.L.M. from Boston University. K.C. will be based in New York. With these two hires, Iron Road Partners remains the only regulatory consulting firm to have former members of the SEC's Private Funds Unit on staff.
