SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index up 3.70% in December

Friday, January 15, 2021
Opalesque Industry Update - SS&C Technologies Holdings announced that the gross return of the SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index for December 2020 measured 3.70%.

Hedge fund flows as measured by the SS&C GlobeOp Capital Movement Index declined 1.67% in January.

"SS&C GlobeOp's Capital Movement Index for January 2021 of -1.67% reflects net outflows, as is typical, based on normal seasonality. On a comparative basis, it is noteworthy that the -1.67% represents lower outflows than the -2.11% reported a year ago and is also the lowest net outflow for any month of January since 2012," said Bill Stone, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, SS&C Technologies. "This comparative improvement is consistent with the favorable pattern in net flows that have emerged since the COVID-19 outbreak began affecting markets during the first quarter of 2020."

The SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index offers a unique reflection of the return on capital invested in funds. It does not overstate exposure to, or the contribution of, any single strategy to aggregate hedge fund performance. Since its inception, the correlation of the SS&C GlobeOp Performance Index to many popular equity market indices has been approximately 25% to 30%. This is substantially lower than the equivalent correlation of other widely followed hedge fund performance indices.

The SS&C GlobeOp Capital Movement Index represents the monthly net of hedge fund subscriptions and redemptions administered by SS&C GlobeOp on the SS&C GlobeOp platform. This monthly net is divided by the total assets under administration (AuA) for fund administration clients on the SS&C GlobeOp platform.

Cumulatively, the SS&C GlobeOp Capital Movement Index for January 2021 stands at 128.77 points, a decrease of 1.67 points over December 2020. The Index has declined 0.84 points over the past 12 months. The next publication date is February 11th, 2021.
