Adams Street Partners closes debut private credit program with $1.1bn

Thursday, May 30, 2019
Opalesque Industry Update - Adams Street Partners, a private markets investment management firm with $37 billion of assets under management, announced today it has successfully completed fundraising for its inaugural Private Credit program with approximately $1.1 billion of capital available to deploy, including leverage.

Since the launch of the private credit strategy in 2016, Adams Street has seen strong demand from institutional investors worldwide, with commitments from both new and existing investors in the United States, Europe, and Asia. The diverse array of investors included public and corporate pension plans, insurance companies, foundations, family offices and high net worth individuals.

"We were pleased to receive such strong support for our investment strategy," said Bill Sacher, Partner and Head of Private Credit. "Our experience investing across cycles and our focus on capital preservation has resonated with investors looking to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns. We've also found that investors are particularly attracted to Adams Street's unique global platform. This platform provides our team with access to differentiated and proprietary sponsor-backed deal flow and a robust pipeline of high-quality investment opportunities."

"Our flexible approach and ability to offer customized financing solutions combined with our long history in the private equity industry makes us a natural partner for our private equity sponsors," added Shahab Rashid, Partner and Co-founder of Private Credit.

Adams Street Partners' Private Credit investment strategy provides financing solutions to sponsor-backed middle-market companies across the capital structure, including first lien loans, revolvers, unitranche facilities, second lien loans, mezzanine debt, and preferred equity. The team, which consists of ten investment professionals, has deployed approximately $500 million across 22 investments since the launch of the strategy.
