Investec Asset Management adds to sustainability team

Monday, November 26, 2018
Opalesque Industry Update - Investec Asset Management has further invested in its sustainable investment capability by appointing Deirdre Cooper as a portfolio manager. With a specific focus on renewable energy, electrification and resource efficiency within Investec's established Natural Resources team, Cooper's hire underlines the firm's commitment in this area.

Bringing extensive experience in the finance and investment industry, Cooper has dedicated the last ten years to the renewable energy, clean tech and utility sectors where she has pioneered considerable innovation, particularly around carbon. She joins most recently from Ecofin where she was a partner, Head of Research and co-portfolio manager of the Ecofin Vista and Global Renewable Infrastructure Fund, as well as co-Portfolio Manager of a number of institutional mandates.

Cooper is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and a member of a number of advisory boards, including Girls Who Invest and Imperial College's Centre for Climate Finance and Investment.

Mimi Ferrini, Joint CEO, Investec Asset Management, said, 'Deirdre brings deep insight and an excellent track record in the area of environmental investing and decarbonisation. Positioning her expertise within the Investec Natural Resources team provides our clients with a compelling investment opportunity and reflects the increased focus within that team on the energy transition and the deep integration of ESG factors.'
