Brinker Capital's Coyne joins Spouting Rock

Tuesday, October 23, 2018
Opalesque Industry Update - Spouting Rock Financial Partners, a diversified financial services firm, today announced that investment industry veteran, John Coyne, has been named Chairman of its asset management group effective immediately. This is a new role for the firm which last month announced the launch of its asset management arm. Coyne was formerly Vice Chairman of Brinker Capital, a position which capped a 30-year career with the firm he co-founded.

Spouting Rock Asset Management offers a niche allocation suite of strategies that seek to capitalize on market inefficiencies.

In his new role, Coyne, a 2011 Money Management Institute Pioneer Award* winner, has primary oversight for Spouting Rock Asset Management's distribution platform. He will specifically focus his efforts on distribution to RIAs.

"I can think of no one better suited to this role than John," said Andrew Smith, Spouting Rock Asset Management's chief executive. "He has significant experience as an investment management leader, and my colleagues and I greatly value his expertise and insight. His industry peers hold John in the highest regard, both for his reputation and his innate understanding of the complexities of the RIA channel. He'll make an enormous difference to our distribution efforts and the growth of our entire franchise. We're thrilled to have him aboard."

Said John Coyne, "I've known Spouting Rock Financial Partners since its founding back in 2006 and have followed the firm's success as it grew from a family office to a family office services provider, to a merchant bank, and now a fully-integrated asset management firm. We have something really special here, both in terms of people and products. If I have to identify one component of this business that most attracted me, it's that we've been able to identify market inefficiencies and in response have created a suite of smart, differentiated strategies to provide financial advisors with the solutions they need for today, tomorrow and beyond. I'm looking forward to playing an integral role in the firm's growth and market prominence."

Coyne noted Spouting Rock Asset Management currently offers six strategies, all of which are available to financial advisors and institutions for investment purposes, and that their product suite will expand over the coming months to include new funds and strategies.

Concurrent with Coyne's appointment, Spouting Rock Asset Management announced the hire of John Dodd as Head of Institutional Distribution.

Immediately before joining Spouting Rock Asset Management, Dodd spent seven years as institutional marketing head at Levin Capital Strategies, an $8.5 billion investment management firm. Previously, he was Managing Director - Institutional Sales and New Business Development at Security Global Investors, and Head of Institutional Sales at US Trust Asset Management. He also held senior-level positions at Friess Associates and The Boston Company. Dodd started his career in institutional sales at Goldman Sachs.

Dodd holds an A.B. degree from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

"John Coyne and John Dodd are two of the most knowledgeable, forward-thinking investment management professionals in the industry," said Blakely Page, Spouting Rock Financial Partners' Founder and President. "Having them part of the Spouting Rock Asset Management ecosystem will help ensure our investment vehicles are considered for portfolio inclusion by our advisor and institutional audiences. Each has distinguished himself as an industry standout in their own right, and each brings with them a depth of experience that's nothing short of highly impressive. We look forward to the many contributions they'll make to Spouting Rock Asset Management."
