BlueMountain Capital Management adds head of equities

Monday, June 26, 2017
Opalesque Industry Update - BlueMountain Capital Management, a private diversified alternative asset management firm with $22 billion in assets under management, continues to build and diversify its equities business, with the addition of Lance Rosen as Head of Equities effective July 10, 2017.

In his new role, Mr. Rosen will lead BlueMountain's discretionary equity strategies, working closely with the firm's Co-CIOs, investment teams, and recently-appointed Director of Research Michael Mauboussin to ensure a rigorous, data-driven investment process by harnessing the firm's advantages across proprietary technology, analytics and data.

"Our efforts to build and diversify our equities business will further position BlueMountain to respond to the current opportunities in the market and our investors' needs," said Andrew Feldstein, BlueMountain's CEO and Co-CIO. "Lance has a long-term track record of superior and consistent investment performance and brings two decades of industry experience as a portfolio manager, risk manager, and trader across multiple strategies, including US equities and special situations. Having led investment teams throughout his career, Lance's deep expertise in overseeing multi-strategy portfolios and his outstanding leadership skills, including building a scalable equities platform, will be invaluable to the further development of our equities business and will enhance the value BlueMountain delivers to our clients."

Most recently President and Chief Investment Officer at Kinrose Capital, Mr. Rosen previously spent a decade at Perry Capital in roles of increasing responsibility, including as a managing partner, head of US equities, and as a member of the executive committee. His responsibilities at Perry included leading a team of 25+ investment professionals with ultimate oversight of $10+ billion in assets under management. He began his career at Smith Barney in 1995 after earning a BA from Cornell and an MA and MPhil from Columbia. Mr. Rosen is a member of the board of directors of Trade Informatics, a firm that uses big data analytics to help investment management firms retain more of their alpha by narrowing the gap between expected and actual returns.

"BlueMountain is highly-regarded for its insightful investment approach across a broad range of global markets and asset classes, as well as its commitment to unsurpassed client service," said Mr. Rosen. "I look forward to joining BlueMountain's team of exceptional professionals and leading the effort to drive the continued buildout and diversification of its equity strategies."
