Opalesque Roundup: Global investors bullish on fixed income hedge funds: hedge fund news In the week ending March 7th 2025, a study revealed that global institutional investors are bullish about the return potential from fixed-income hedge funds. According to research commissioned by RBC BlueBay Asset Management, two-thirds of global institutional investors (63%) expect annual returns of 10% or higher from fixed-income hedge funds. This optimism is driven by strong financial performance, evolving fee structures, and greater levels of market liquidity. Meanwhile, hedge funds still have big bets on the market, but they don't appear to be as bullish as they previously were, according to an analysis from J.P. Morgan. The Wall Street giant found that gross leverage from hedge funds is at all-time highs, but that net leverage decreased. Millennium Management, Citadel and other top hedge funds posted lackluster returns in February, as market gyrations reversed momentum on key trades and clobbered popular stocks. In new launches, former UBS banker Martin Rasmussen and entrepreneur Claus Rosenberg Gotthard are launching a multi-strategy hedge fund in Abu Dhabi; Global alternative asset manager ICG has soared to an $11bn final close for its fifth flagship secondaries fund, almost twice the $6bn it initially hoped to raise, and American alternative investment management company Blackstone Inc. has raised $5.6 billion for a fund that invests in the transition to cleaner energy.
