Matthias Knab, Opalesque: Fasanara Capital, the London-based technology-driven asset manager with a 15-year track record in credit markets, has appointed Gaurav Sanan as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, as the firm continues to expand its office in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).
Based in the UAE, Sanan will build and manage a dedicated working capital portfolio focused on performing credit opportunities. The firm says the role will add investment and financing expertise and strengthen its ability to develop institutional relationships and capabilities both in the region and internationally.
Fasanara sees ADGM as an important hub for investment talent, Gulf investor engagement and strategic partnerships across its credit, quantitative and alternative strategies. The office supports the firm's growing relationships in the region and the development of its global investment platform.
22 years across credit markets
Sanan joins from Jefferies, where he spent more than five years. Over a 22-year career across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, he has also held roles at DBS Bank, Falcon Group, E&Y and ICICI Bank. His experience spans asset management, corporate banking, securitisation, high yield credit, open account, fintech and funding syndication, with a focus on structuring credit facilities for institutional clients and partners.
"I am pleased to be joining Fasanara at such an exciting inflection point and be in a position to contribute to the firm's continued growth. I am confident of adding value by building a diversified performing credit portfolio within Fasanara's investment platform," Sanan said. "Being based in the UAE provides a strong foundation for developing relationships across the region and internationally."
Francesco Filia, CEO and Founder of Fasanara Capital, said: "The continued expansion of our ADGM office reflects our commitment to the region and its importance to Fasanara's global investment platform. Gaurav's appointment builds on our longstanding working capital financing activities."
Filia added that Sanan's understanding of credit risk, transactional structuring, global access, distribution and partnerships would support the firm "as we continue to build our ADGM presence and support the development of his strategy within the platform."
Founded in 2011, Fasanara manages USD7.5bn in tech-enabled asset-based credit and digital assets strategies on behalf of pension funds, insurance companies and other institutional investors. Its credit business - short-duration, small-ticket lending originated through a global network of fintech platforms - forms the foundation of the firm's multi-strategy offering.
