755 Unicorns, $8 Trillion: Fifth Era maps the autonomous digital economy

Fifth Era Partners, a specialized asset manager focused on the convergence of Internet, AI/Agentic and Blockchain technologies, has released the findings of its 13th Biannual Unicorns report, tracking what it calls the Autonomous Digital Economy (ADE).

According to the report, the global unicorn count has grown from 1,300 at the start of 2026 (per CB Insights) to more than 1,500 today. Of these, Fifth Era identifies 755 unicorns as ADE-focused, split by domain as follows: 453 (60%) in AI/Agentic, 133 (17%) in Internet, and 169 (23%) in Blockchain (including tokenized crypto projects).

The combined market value of these 755 companies is approximately $8 trillion, with AI/Agentic accounting for $4.4 trillion (53%), Blockchain for $3 trillion (36%), and Internet for $1 trillion (11%).

By headquarters location, the United States leads with 439 ADE unicorns (58%), followed by China with 46 (6%) and the UK with 37 (5%). All other countries combined account for 173 (31%). Within the US, the San Francisco Bay Area alone hosts approximately 214 companies - 28% of the US total - representing $3.49 trillion, or 42% of total ADE enterprise value. New York ranks as the second-largest cluster, though well behind the Bay Area.
