Allocators hold firm: Hedge fund redemptions near all-time low despite market turbulence

SS&C GlobeOp's Forward Redemption Indicator for July 2026 measured 1.35%, down from 1.72% in June and one of the lowest monthly readings in the indicator's history, SS&C Technologies Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSNC) announced.

Bill Stone, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SS&C Technologies, said the July reading was "among the lowest monthly readings we've recorded." He pointed to a sharp unwind in AI and semiconductor momentum trades and to escalating Middle East tensions as sources of fresh volatility in global markets, noting that allocators are nonetheless holding their hedge fund positions steady. In his view, the stability of redemption trends reflects the continued contribution of uncorrelated returns and favourable risk-adjusted performance to investor outcomes.

The July figure sits close to the indicator's all-time low of 1.26%, recorded in April 2026. The 12-month high was 2.43% in November 2025. Forward redemptions as a share of assets under administration have trended significantly lower since the peak of 19.27% reached in November 2008, which also produced the largest monthly change on record at 9.60%.
