Only 89 wallets hold more than 10,000 BTC, controlling over $300bn of Bitcoin

In the world of crypto, only a few dozen addresses have the power to move the market, holding more Bitcoin than millions of retail investors combined. Although the number of these Bitcoin whales, addresses with more than 10,000 BTC in their balance, has actually dropped over the past few years, they still control a staggering share of the world's largest cryptocurrency.

According to data presented by CryptoPresales.com, only 89 wallets held more than 10,000 BTC as of last week, controlling over $300 billion worth of Bitcoin.

Four Governments Now Hold One-Sixth of All Bitcoin Whale Holdings

Just a few years ago, the list of the world's biggest Bitcoin whales was mostly anonymous and intriguing. The biggest known individual Bitcoin whale is still believed to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, who is thought to own about 1.1 million BTC. Other Bitcoin whales were also anonymous early adopters or crypto-native entities, known only by their wallet addresses. But a lot has changed since then, with a growing number of public companies and even governments openly sharing how much Bitcoin they own. Their share among the world's largest Bitcoin whales has grown tremendously over the past two years.
