The Big Picture: Global UHNW population surpasses half million as generational wealth transfer accelerates

The world's ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) population - individuals with net worth exceeding $30 million - has reached 510,810 individuals as of June 2025, controlling a staggering $59.8 trillion in combined wealth, according to Altrata's latest World Ultra Wealth Report. This represents a 5.4% increase in the first half of 2025, following robust 12% growth in 2024.

Geographic Distribution and Market Dynamics

North America Dominates: The United States continues its reign as the world's dominant wealth market, home to 192,470 UHNW individuals (38% of the global total) - more than all other top 10 countries combined. The North American region expanded its UHNW population by 6.2% in H1 2025, reaching a record 41% global share.

Asia Shows Resilience: Despite trade tensions and US tariff pressures, Asia's UHNW population grew 6.4% to 129,100 individuals, maintaining its position as the second-largest wealth region. Hong Kong emerged as a standout performer with 22.9% growth, driven by a surge in mainland Chinese IPOs and equity market gains.
