Manulife racks up $1.1bn for third co-investment fund

Manulife Investment Management (Manulife IM), the asset management arm of Manulife Financial Corporation, closed its third co-investment fund at $1.1 billion, surpassing its original $750 million target and marking a $300 million increase from its predecessor fund that closed in October 2021.

According to a media release from the global wealth and asset management firm, Manulife Co-Investment Partners III draws on the firm's network of more than 200 sponsor partners to provide institutional investors direct access to private equity opportunities in middle-market companies.

The strategy is designed to provide institutional investors with direct access to high-quality private equity opportunities in middle market companies, sourced through the firm's general partner relationships and underwritten by a seasoned investment team with a disciplined, selective approach, said the release.

The fund attracted a diverse global investor base, including public and corporate pensions, insurance companies, asset managers, financial institutions, and family offices. Manulife's General Account also made a capital commitment to the fund, reinforcing its strategic alignment with investors.
