Nearly 90% of global investors show interest in sustainable investing

Investor appetite for sustainable investments remains robust as 88% of global investors express interest in sustainable investing, with nearly all Gen Z (99%) and Millennial (97%) investors leading the charge, revealed a study.

According to a new "Sustainable Signals" report by the Morgan Stanley Institute for Sustainable Investing, 59% plan to increase their allocation to sustainable investments in the next year, driven primarily by confidence in financial performance.

Clean energy and energy efficiency rank as top investment priorities, with 80 %+ viewing energy transition as a return-generating opportunity.

The survey polled 1,765 active individual investors with more than $100,000 in investable assets across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific (APAC) between February and March of this year to assess attitudes toward sustainable investing and where investors see the greatest opportunities and challenges.

"Most global investors surveyed (88%) say they are interested in sustainable investing. Younger investors show the most interest in sustainability, with 99% of Gen Z and 97% of Millennial investors expressing interest. Nearly two-thirds of all investors (64%) say their interest has increased in the last year," the report elaborated.
