i3 Investment Partners opens to outside capital

i3 Investment Partners, a quantamental hedge fund, is opening its flagship strategy to outside investors. The fund is reportedly targeting $300 million and will be offering the strategy in a separately managed account structure.

The strategy first launched in 2020 and is nearly at its five year milestone. The strategy has annualized returns of 26.99%, according to third party performance data reviewed by Opalesque.

The strategy is the work of A.J. Di Cioccio, Kevin Griffin and Yousef Abuhakmeh who were all previously at Citigroup. They started working on the trading program in 2014, eventually refining it down into a quantamental long/short approach. The investment team works with proprietary models and algorithms to generate potential trading signals, which the team then analyzes and adjusts based on their understanding of the market. Ultimately, the investment team makes the final decision on which trades to pursue and adjusts positioning on a discretionary basis.

The strategy typically invests in approximately 20 positions and looks for equities that have sufficient liquidity. Once the team has identified its desired entry and exit points, the strategy will maintain that position until the exit point is reached.
