Laxman Pai, Opalesque Asia: Insight Partners, a New York-based venture capital and private equity firm has raised $12.5 billion for its 13th flagship fund.
The amount reflects a downward adjustment from its initial target of US$20 billion due to a difficult environment for venture capital fundraising. This fund is one of the largest focused on technology investments.
According to a media release from the global software investor, Insight's honed investment strategies and dedication to the software sector saw strong support from both long-standing and notable new investors, with Insight's employees representing the largest aggregate commitment to the funds.
The closing of the new funds - the thirteenth flagship fund with a dedicated buyout co-invest fund (together Fund XIII) and structured equity fund, Opportunities Fund II -, brings Insight Partners' regulatory assets under management to more than $90 billion and marks a notable milestone in the firm's 30-year history of scaling transformative software companies worldwide.
As per the release, Insight's flagship funds, including Fund XIII, typically invest between $5 million and $500 million+ in a company, with the ability to invest from the earliest institutional check to IPO.
