Jane Halsey's Roundtable Forum celebrates 25 years in alts industry

Thursday, November 14, 2024

Matthias Knab, Opalesque for New Managers:

This year marks Roundtable Forum's 25th anniversary in the alternative investment industry. Founded by Jane Halsey, the Roundtable Forum provides allocators/LP's the opportunity to meet with a highly curated group of alternative investment managers pursuing a diverse mix of strategies. The first Forum was held in New York at the Lotus Club in May of 1999. Since then, there have been a total of 86 Forums in New York, London, Geneva, Zurich, Dallas, San Francisco and Hartwell, GA.

Background

What began as an experiment in 1999 became a thriving concern. Jane Halsey's concept was simple: bring allocators and fund managers together in a relaxed, intimate setting conducive to learning and relationship building. Rather than speaking from a podium, fund managers and allocators met in small groups (seated at round tables) to facilitate a dynamic exchange of information. The format was a departure from the norm and key to the Forum's instant success.

Jane Halsey

Jane Halsey began her career in alternative investments in 1990, initially with a CTA startup and then, in 1993, with a notable fund of funds launch involving Michael Steinhardt. Jane began her fund marketing career with the backing of the late Jeff Tarrant of Protege Partners and Permal. In the mid 90's Jane traveled extensively, attending all of the major "hedge fund" conferences. These experiences informed her decision to create a format that better served the interests of allocators and managers.

The next Roundtable Forum will be held in New York on December 12th, 2024.

Opalesque Founder Matthias Knab has attended Jane Halsey's Roundtable Forums in the past and recommends this format to investment managers and allocators.

Interested parties can contact Jane Halsey on (212) 717-9760 or email jhalsey@roundtableforum.com.
