Why fund managers should adopt void SEC FPA amendments anyway

In a recent white paper, Dynamo, a global provider of software for the alternative investments ecosystem, wants to encourage fund managers to be ahead of upcoming private fund regulations.

The SEC adopted six new rules and amendments under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 to enhance the regulation of private fund advisers (PFA). The SEC then felt it had to protect the increasing number of average investors in private funds - traditionally the territory of sophisticated HNWIs and institutional investors - and improve overall transparency.

A private investment fund is an investment company that does not solicit capital from retail investors or the general public and is classified as such according to exemptions found in the Investment Company Act of 1940. Such funds include hedge funds and private equity funds.
