B. G., Opalesque Geneva for New Managers: Martin Redgard's newest fund debuted in March with a return of 2.15%. The Arden xFund (soon to be renamed Epoque Equities) runs a quantitative trend-following strategy that only differs from the flagship fund, Epoque, in the scope of the universe. Whereas Epoque (up 7.6% YTD) works on a wide spectrum of assets, including currencies and commodities, the new fund monitors a universe of 150 Scandinavian stocks.
Redgard started his firm Epoque Quantitative last year under the umbrella of AIFM Group, a fund hotel in Sweden for AIFs (alternative investment funds) and UCITS.
He took over the Arden xFund, which had been managed by a different manager since 2012, earlier this year and rearranged the strategy to fit his proprietary trading approach. His strategy is the product of more than 15 years of experience and research.
The Arden xFund now uses "an equity long/short beta neutral approach, targeting low correlation to the broader stock market and uncorrelated returns, while simultaneously being a diversifier from the flagship fund Epoque," says Redgard.
