BlackRock racks up nearly $1bn for infrastructure fund

BlackRock, BlackRock is a global asset manager and technology provider, has secured almost $1 billion for its evergreen infrastructure fund from European founding partners. The backers include Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo and Inarcassa Public Pension in Italy, as well as several European institutional investors.

The Fund has already begun to commit capital and has signed definitive documentation to acquire, subject to customary closing conditions, a U.S. commercial and industrial (C&I) solar and battery platform well positioned for the energy transition, said a media release from BlackRock's private markets platform.

According to the release, announced in June 2022, Evergreen Infrastructure is a core, open-ended infrastructure equity fund that focuses on investing in infrastructure businesses in Europe and North America aligned with the themes of energy transition and energy security.

"It seeks to deliver investors consistent long-term cash yield and resilient inflation-linked, fully contracted returns by investing in a portfolio of core infrastructure businesses diversified across geographies and sectors. In addition to energy transition and energy security, the Fund will also focus on thematic sectors including transportation, digital infrastructure, and the circular economy," it added.
