Rodrigo Rodriguez B. G., Opalesque Geneva for New Managers: A fresh new multi-strategy event-driven fund is being launched this month by an emerging manager in Jersey called Corbiere Capital Management. However, the co-founders - and the strategy - are far from new to the scene.
Rodrigo Rodriguez, the CIO and a 25-year investment professional, will be using a proprietary strategy he has been using for the last ten years during his time at both Bluecrest and Ovata. Ben Brooks, the CEO, has been running his own business for nearly 20 years and has been an allocator, as well as a seeder and an accelerator for new fund managers with Societe Generale, Liberty Ermitage, Commerzbank and Chiltern Advisors.
"We are launching with the backing of several significant institutions," Ben Brooks tells Opalesque. "My job is to set up and run the business and take away all the noise for Rodrigo to focus on investing. That's the perfect partnership."
The name of the firm and the fund - Corbiere Capital - comes from the name of the local lighthouse, which is one of the most photographed landmarks in Jersey and a popular tourist site for its panoramic views.
