Martin Redgard B. G., Opalesque Geneva for New Managers: Martin Redgard's true calling is quantitative trading, which he has done for more than 15 years, since his student days. This year, he has set up his proprietary strategy, which mixes short-term trend following and mean reversion, in an onshore structure and it is doing very well.
"The main lesson time has taught me about quantitative trading is that everything needs to be robust, dynamic and universal," he says. "I also firmly believe that all strategies need to be based on what makes sense to the human mind, not patterns identified and therefore potentially created by a machine."
The Swedish-born trader left Taaffeite Capital Management, a New York-based quant manager, in 2019 with the objective of setting up his own fund in Sweden. Then came the Pandemic, which delayed the launch. So, he managed his strategy privately and consulted for several financial firms.
While he was restarting the process of setting up his new structure, called Epoque Quantitative, AIFM Group, a fund hotel in Sweden for AIF (alternative investment funds) and UCITS, contacted him.
