Versor Investments launches AI-backed equities strategy

Quantitative investment firm Versor Investments has launched a new artificial intelligence focused strategy.

The Versor Equity Prism Strategy invests in single name stocks and equity index futures across the globe in a market-neutral fashion. The product relies on alternative data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to identify potential trades. The strategy places an increased emphasis on the use of Versor's proprietary methodologies related to these technologies.

"We started developing Prism five years ago and we launched it with partner capital 18 months ago. So it has been running for a while now in a somewhat challenging market. We have been pleased with the performance, which is why we are opening it to outside investment," Deepak Gurnani Versor founder and managing partner tells Opalesque.

Versor is also working on another AI-focused strategy - Versor Macro Sonar. Sonar invests in futures and forwards across equity indices, commodities, fixed income, and currencies. Using both directional and non-directional signals to make its trades.

"Sonar will be going through a similar process to Prism," Gurnani says. "We're running it with partner capital now as we build the track record and we will open it to outside investors sometime next year."

Gurnani notes that alternative data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence have each played roles in Versor's research process over the years ......................
