New liquidity event short-focused hedge fund gains on first month

An experienced small-cap short seller has just launched a hedge fund that targets liquidity events.

His new firm, Blue Zen Capital Management, runs the hedge fund which returned 7% gross in January, its first month of trading.

Moshe Hurwitz, the portfolio manager, runs the fund from his offices in Atlanta, Georgia. He started his career in real estate, managing a portfolio of buildings and conducting due diligence for new acquisitions. He went on to found and sell a consumer packaged goods company. Moshe has been a short-seller in the small-cap market since 2014 and has been tutored by some of the best short sellers in the field.

His partner Sahar Ziv manages Blue Zen from his own offices in Florida, where the company is registered since September 2022. Ziv has worked in the real-estate space for over 15 years. He has raised and managed multiple investment pools for boutique real estate funds and has advised HNWIs domestically and abroad.
