Motive Partners purchases German VC embedded/capital

The fintech-focused private equity firm Motive Partners has agreed to acquire Berlin-based venture capital firm embedded/capital GmbH to chase opportunities in Europe's growing startup scene.

Motive Partners, the specialist PE firm with offices in London and New York, focuses on building, backing, and buying technology companies that support the financial economy. Embedded/capital, based in Berlin, focuses on supporting financial technology innovation-related companies.

According to a joint press release, The deal - the terms of which were not disclosed - is subject to customary closing conditions and expected to close in January 2023.

Blythe Masters, Founding Partner at Motive Partners, commented: "We are delighted to welcome the talented and accomplished embedded/capital team to the Motive family. We have known the team by a reputation for some time, and have admired their prowess as both business builders and investors in leading entrepreneurs that are evolving the financial technology landscape.
