Hedge-fund giant Man Group AUM shrinks again

British hedge fund manager Man Group said today that assets under management (AUM) at the end of the third quarter fell in what was a very difficult period for the industry.

The world's largest publicly traded hedge fund said in a press release that AUM on Sept. 30 was $138.4 billion compared with $142.3 billion on June 30.

Net outflows were $0.5 billion during a very difficult quarter for the asset management industry, it said.

The active investment management firm said that a negative foreign-exchange hit of $4.5 billion, primarily from US dollar strength, partially offset by performance-linked leverage moveme......................
