More institutional investors sign biodiversity pledge

More asset owners and managers have signed the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge, and now represent $15.9 trillion in assets and 111 signatories from 20 countries.

abrdn plc, Aéma Groupe, Pictet Group, Schroders and Velliv Pension and Livsforsikring A/S among 13 new signatories of the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge.

Andra AP-fonden, Ethical Partner Funds Management, Green Century, Lazard Frères Gestion, NN Group, PGGM N.V, SG 29 Haussmann, Société Générale Private Wealth Management are also among the new signatories.

Five of these signatories had already joined in July when the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge reached the milestone of 100+ signatories.

With the signatures of Andra AP-fonden and Velliv Pension & Livsforsikring A/S, there are now six pension funds among the signatories.

The latest tally was announced by the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation during the European Commission's European Business and Nature Summit on Tuesday.

The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge is a commitment of financial institutions to protect and restore biodiversity through their finance activities and investments. Signatories commit to taking five steps: collaborating and sharing knowledge, engaging with companies, assessing impact, setting targets, and reporting publicly on those efforts before 2025.
