Next week alternative investment conference SALT will get underway in New York. SALT New York is the flagship event for SALT an events arm affiliated with SkyBridge Capital. The event moved to New York from Las Vegas after the pandemic and has retained its signature format of high profile talks mixed with capital introduction. This year is no different.
SALT originally began as a largely hedge fund focused event and has subsequently evolved to include private equity, venture capital, digital assets, and cryptocurrency tracks as part of the program. This year, allocators will have an opportunity to meet with a wider range of managers from each of these tracks.
John Darsie, a partner at SkyBridge Capital tells Opalesque that SALT has deepened its relationship with iConnections a networking platform for allocators and managers. That partnership will be facilitating a new approach to the capital introduction portion of the event.
"This year allocators have to commit to taking meetings with seven managers that are relevant to their investment goals," Darsie says. "Those meetings can be in any asset class but the goal is to improve the capital introduction aspect of the event and make it valuable for all attendees."
Darsie adds that the speaker series will also reflect the inclusion of additional asset classes. Speakers will include crypto luminaries like Sam Bankman-Fried as well as private equity leaders like Hartley Rogers, chairman of Hamilton Lane.
