Barings raises mammoth $7.13bn European private loan fund

The $371 billion investment giant Barings has raised its third European private loan fund with €7 billion ($7.13 billion) in capital commitments.

The North Carolina-based investment management firm said in a media release that it has garnered interest from a global investor base, a mix of public and private pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices.

"Barings saw support from both new and existing investors with more than two-thirds of commitments raised from investors in prior funds," the release noted.

The €7 billion raised exceeded Barings' initial target. The European investment team has deployed €6 billion in the last 18 months across more than 80 transactions, resulting in the third vintage being over 50% invested.

According to the global investment manager, this fundraise brings Barings' total committed capital in Europe to €12.8 billion with €10 billion invested.
