Hedge funds return strong at +16.69% in 2020, says Preqin

The Preqin All-Strategies Hedge Fund benchmark had a strong end to 2020, posting +3.99% in December, said Preqin Hedge Fund Performance Update of December 2020.

The YTD return was pushed to +16.69%, and the three-year annualized return to +8.20%. This marked a drastic turnaround from the ill effects brought by COVID-19 earlier in the year.

According to the report, event-driven strategies were the best-performing sub-category in December, gaining 6.45% and pushing their 2020 YTD return to +13.28%.

Equity strategies followed, with gains of 4.95% in December contributing to a +19.59% YTD ret......................
