Breacher Capital launches with a focus on risk management

Breacher Capital, is a new multi-model long/short strategy with a focus on risk management. Breacher runs three variants of its strategy, increasing in risk tolerance. The variants are designed to work within a broad range of portfolios.

"What we want to do is build portfolios that understand risk," says Art Holly, portfolio manager and CIO at Breacher in an interview with Opalesque New Managers. He says the trading team has a background as prop traders, which shows through in portfolio construction. "We understand that if you aren't preserving capital, you're not going to survive over the long-term," he says.

Holly was previously at Man Group where he was head of portfolio management in the US. Prior to Man, Holly was director of the hedge fund development group for Bank of America Merril Lynch.

Breacher's three variants are the Breacher Absolute Return Core Strategy, which was up 0.55% in March and is up 1.12% YTD. The market-neutral fund combines growth, value, and momentum with catalyst driven investments. Breacher Absolute Return Enhanced was up 1.52% in March and is up 3.08% year to date. The long/short strategy can take a contrarian view of the market as it looks for investment opportunities. Finally, Breacher Absolute Return Aggressive was up 2.39% and is up 5.13% YTD.
