FBI launches cyber security awareness campaign

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched a campaign called "Protected Voices initiative" designed to mitigate the risk of cyber influence operations targeting U.S. elections. Complemented by short videos, the campaign is also aiming to educated individuals and corporations.

As part of the initiative, FBI offices are coordinating with political campaigns at the local, state, and federal levels across the country to make them aware of potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

FBI has also released a series of short videos on a dedicated website to help political campaigns and other parties defend their computer networks, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The videos include tips and best practices on topics such as setting strong passwords and defending against social engineering.

"But even beyond political campaigns, the cybersecurity information contained in these videos-which ranges from protecting passwords to social engineering threats to what to do if you think you've been hacked-will be helpful to anyone who uses a computer," said a statement from FBI.
