B. G., Opalesque Geneva: Edward G. (EG) Fisher III, 50, is to join Mariner Investment Group as co-chief investment officer and as head of liquid market strategies - the latter is reportedly a new title at the firm.
Fisher has more than 29 years of industry experience and 18 years of proprietary trading experience. He joins Mariner from BNY Mellon Bank where he was managing director overseeing fixed income and equities trading for the bank since 2015. Prior to that, he was co-founder and managing partner of 5:15 Capital Management, a G7 rates arbitrage fund, where he traded a balance sheet of over $30bn. Before founding 5:15 in 2009, Fisher was a partner at Brevan Howard in 2008; managing director at Greenwich Capital Markets from 1996 to 2008; and vice president at Blackrock Financial Management from 1990 to 1996. He received a BA in economics from Dartmouth.
Mariner's founder and CIO Bill Michaelcheck will assume the role of co-chief investment officer and continue as lead portfolio manager for Mariner's flagship multi-strategy hedge fund when Fisher starts this summer.
