Affiliated Managers Group takes stake in alternative investment manager

The asset management company Affiliated Managers Group (AMG) is purchasing an equity stake in $4bn Garda Capital Partners, a Minneapolis asset manager specializing in fixed-income relative-value strategies.

After the closing of the transaction, the senior partners of Garda will continue to hold a majority of the equity of the business and direct the firm's day-to-day operations. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AMG, which has about $778bn in aggregate assets under management, makes equity investments in boutique investment management firms.
