Nordea Asset Management rolls out European long/short equity strategy

Nordea Asset Management has launched a European long/short equity strategy - the Nordea 1 - European Long/Short Equity Fund.

According to a press release, the liquid alternative strategy designed for investors searching for yields higher than traditional fixed income products, while at the same time seeking lower volatility than long-only equity funds.

Stockholm-based Madrague Capital Partners AB, which is 40% owned by Nordea Asset Management Holding AB, will manage the fund.

Lars Franstedt, CIO/Portfolio Manager at Madrague Capital Partners AB said: "We are looking forward to the launch of our first fund together with Nordea. Our belief is that the investment profile of Madrague will be a good complement to the existing offer on the Nordea platform. Madrague is firmly committed to delivering a good risk-adjusted return to both our new and current investors."

The release said that the investment team consists of five members, including founding partners, all who have worked together since the company's inception in 2012.The team focuses on risk management using their extensive experience in the alternatives space to protect the portfolio against sudden market corrections.

Nils Bolmstrand, CEO of Nordea Asset Management said that this is their first product from Madrague after the announcement of their partnership and expected to strengthen its alternatives offering.
