Northern Trust rolls out integrated trading solutions

Northern Trust Corporation has launched an outsourced trading capability designed to help asset owners and asset managers achieve better overall trading and performance outcomes.

The Chicago-based asset manager which has assets under custody/administration of $10.7 trillion, and assets under management of US$1.1 trillion said in a press release that the capability - Integrated Trading Solutions (ITS) - combines Northern Trust's trading experience in equities and fixed income with comprehensive access to global markets, trading venues and liquidity.

ITS enables seamless integration using advanced technology across trade execution, middle office, matching and settlement, it said, adding: "The potential benefits to our clients may be reduced costs and reduced risks, while enabling the achievement of MiFID II directive guidelines of 'Best Execution' obligations."

The release quoted Guy Gibson, head of Institutional Brokerage for EMEA & APAC at Northern Trust as saying that: "Institutional investors are at a tipping point, faced with unprecedented pressure from multiple sources: the need to invest in technology, support regulation and compliance requirements alongside competitive fee pressures."
