Lisa Vioni Benedicte Gravrand, Opalesque Geneva: Just as the wind starts blowing auburn leaves along the streets of New York and London and people start revisiting their winter coats, some hedge funders might like to find solace in Bermuda, where they could have dinner on the beach and go on a mini-cruise. Of course, I am referring here to a particular trip to Bermuda, one that is all professional, with much learning and inspiration to be gotten from eminent speakers, and above all, much networking to be done.
Hedge Connection, a New York State-based web-based platform for private funds, is having its biggest yearly event on October 16-18. In its fourth year, the Global Fund Forum boasts a greater variety of events than its peers.
The keynote presentations on the first night, for example, are meant to be inspirational, not finance-related: Joseph Kim, a young man who grew up in North Korea during the great famine and escaped, will talk about his experience. John Sitilides, principal at Trilogy Advisors, will talk about global issues and connect the dots; and leadership expert Marilyn Sherman will give a motivational speech. After that, it's off to the beach dinner party, with a mentalist to entertain you, followed Cigars Under The Stars.
