LGT buys private debt manager European Capital from Ares

LGT Capital Partners Ltd., a Swiss alternative investment specialist, has completed the acquisition of European Capital Fund Management Ltd., a London- and Paris-based private debt manager, from Ares Capital Corporation.

European Capital's funds will be managed by the same team led by Matthew Gordon Clark, Etienne Haubold, Stéphane Legrand and JC Morales Cortes. The team of more than 28 specialists will be integrated into LGT as the private debt investment competence center.

The acquisition was announced in March this year and completed on 31 May. Berkshire Capital acted as financial advisor for LGT, and Credit Suisse acted as financial advisor for US private equity firm Ares Management.
