Bailey McCann, Opalesque New York: Private funds data provider eVestment has created a new information alliance around private equity. The Private Markets Alliance is composed of 11 industry consultants advising more than $8 trillion.
"The goal of the alliance is to create a clearinghouse platform where investors can get the data they need on a fund during the pre-commitment process," explains Heath Wilson, co-founder of eVestment and leader of the Alliance, in an interview with Opalesque.
Disclosed participants in the Alliance include Angeles Investment Advisors, Colonial Consulting, Ellwood Associates, Marquette Associates, NEPC, RCLCO, Rocaton Investment Advisors, Pension Consulting Alliance, Russell Investments, RVK and Segal Rogerscasey.
eVestment will be starting with private equity and specifically private equity consultants, but plans to expand to private equity real estate, private debt and venture capital over 2017. "We will also be adding a core group of LPs and funds of funds to the Alliance," Wilson adds.
Alliance members have agreed to adopt eVestment's TopQ platform for performance analysis. eVestments products are already used by hedge fund managers and institutional investors to aggregate performance data and compare strategy peers. Similarly, GPs will be able to report performance, investments, and intermittent performance numbers/NAVs to the platform and choose which clients are allowed to view that information.
