Wells Fargo Asset Management expands quantitative offering with acquisition of Analytics Investors

Wells Fargo Asset Management, the $481bn division of Wells Fargo Wealth and Investment Management, has agreed to acquire Analytic Investors, a $15bn investment firm that supplies quantitatively-based equity investment solutions to institutional clients.

The transaction, which financial terms have not been disclosed, is expected to close in early October. Analytic Investors will continue to operate from its Los Angeles offices.

"This transaction brings Analytic’s well-regarded and innovative quantitative investment team together with WFAM’s fundamentally research-based investment capabilities and deep institutional investor relationships," said Kristi Mitchem, CEO of Wells Fargo Asset Management. "We are delighted to add Analytic’s expertise in factor-based, risk controlled solutions, providing more components to build comprehensive investment solutions for our clients."

Analytics Investors, which was founded in 1970, is the sub-advisor of 361 Capital, an investment firm specialising in liquid alternative mutual funds.
