Ex-SocGen team launches event driven hedge fund with seed from Pine Street

As of December 1, 2015, BCK Capital Management LP officially launched its flagship fund, an equity event driven hedge fund led by Wayne Yu, with a $50 million seed investment from Pine Street Alternative Asset Management. Founded in 2011, New York-based Pine Street focuses on emerging hedge fund managers.

The investment team at BCK lifted out from the Société Générale proprietary trading desk this year, where they had been executing the strategy since December 2009, including more than two years of audited track record. Wayne Yu was managing the fund, then known as Condorcet Global Opportunity Fund. Before that, he was head of Citadel’s event-driven business for the Americas.

Stamford, CT-based BCK is currently managing the seed capital plus internal capital, and plans to launch a founder's share class in early 2016. 

Peter Brady joined BCK last month as Head of Business Development. Before that, he held senior positions at Société Générale, Larch Lane Advisors and Prisma Capital Partners.
