Commodity Trading Advisors or CTAs' strategies will deliver positive results irrespective of which direction the markets would go, said Paul Netherwood, one of the founding partners at Beach Horizon LLP, a London-based
CTA and a systematic fund manager that trades a portfolio of global commodities during the latest Opalesque London Roundtable.
The Roundtable was sponsored by Eurex, Bingham and Taussig Capital and was held last month.
Netherwood made the statement as he discussed future trading opportunities, particularly for the Deutsche Mark, Frank, Lira, Drachma.
"CTAs have always thrived on long-term macro change and a breakup of the Euro would be a good example of that kind of change if it were to happen," Netherwood declared and added "2008 was a banner year for CTAs as the world went through significant macroeconomic change. CTAs were the only asset class delivering returns that year. Since then, however, the whole world has been pretty static and stagnant in terms of directional activity.
